In accordance with Article 6 of the HSS Statutes, membership is divided into the following categories: Full (regular) members, corresponding members, supporting members.
- Full (regular) members can become those who have:
(Α) a PhD in Sociology (Greek or foreign university)
(Β) a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Sociology and a PhD in a related field of social sciences or humanities
(C) a PhD in a related field of social sciences or humanities, only if they can demonstrate a strong and continuous interest in sociology through specific studies, publications in scientific journals, employment at a university, teaching experience and conference participations
Members of the first (A) and second (B) categories are admitted ex officio. Members of the third (C) category are admitted after submission of an application for membership in the HSS and the decision on their admission by the Board on the basis of the above-mentioned criteria. The number of members in category C may not exceed one quarter of the number of members in category A.
- Corresponding members can become those who have the same qualifications as full (regular) members but live abroad and are willing to actively contribute to the realisation of the objectives of HSS. Corresponding members automatically become full members as soon as they settle in Greece and inform HSS.
- Supporting members can become those who show a continuing interest in supporting HSS. Doctoral or Master’s students in sociology may also be admitted in this category.
New Member Registration Process
For the registration of new members the following steps are required:
STEP 1
Please fill in and submit the application form (available here) with an attached CV to the Secretary of the HSS. (for the period 2024-26: Dimitris Parsanoglou dimparsa@soc.uoa.gr). Both documents (application form and CV) should be submitted as separate pdf files.
STEP 2
You will be informed by e-mail about the progress of your application and the decision of the Board.
STEP 3
Provided that the decision is positive, please deposit the total amount for the registration fee and the first annual subscription fee to the HSS bank account at ALPHA BANK:

*** Attention: Please note the name of the depositor in the deposit justification.
The total amount to be deposited is determined according to the following distinction:
- New full (regular) members: Euro 40.00 (registration fee: Euro 10.00 + annual subscription fee: Euro 30.00)
- New corresponding members: Euro 25.00 (registration fee: Euro 10.00 + annual subscription fee: Euro 15.00)
STEP 4
Please send the transfer receipt by e-mail to the HSS treasurer (for the period 2024-26: Nikolaos Souliotis, nsouliotis@ekke.gr). The receipt should be submitted in pdf.
Annual Membership Subscription
The financial support of the HSS is essential for its future activities. We therefore ask members to pay their annual membership fee.
The following steps are required in order to deposit your annual subscription.

Please deposit the subscription fee to the HSS bank account at ALPHA BANK:
